Apple MacBook Pro Gets Processor, Keyboard Upgrade

From PC Mag: Apple's highest-end MacBook Pro laptops are getting even more powerful.

New Intel Core processors mean the 15- and 13-inch models now have more computing muscle—in some cases, resulting in twice as much performance as before—without a price hike.

The new processor options on the 15-inch MacBook Pro come from Intel's latest 9th generation processors, code named "Whiskey Lake." The new starting option for the 15-inch is a Core i7 CPU with a base clock speed of 2.6GHz and a maximum boost clock speed of 4.5GHz. That retails for $2,399, the same price as the previous starting configuration for the 15-inch laptop.

If you want even more power, the top-end $2,799 15-inch MacBook Pro now comes with an updated Core i9 processor, with speeds up to 4.8GHz. If that's not enough, the top-end model can be configured with an even more expensive Core i9, which features Turbo Boost clock speed of up to 5Ghz. Both CPUs have eight cores, up from six in the 8th-generation Core i9, which was previously the most powerful MacBook Pro processor.
