From PC Mag: The coronavirus appears to be affecting the supply chain for replacement iPhones. Apple is warning employees in Apple Stores that there may be shortages for up to the next four weeks.
As Bloomberg reports, Apple Store Geniuses have been told that replacement iPhones will be scarcely available for two to four weeks. Apple is encouraging them to offer loaner iPhones for now to help alleviate the delay and so customers aren't left without a handset. Apple employees who wish to remain anonymous have also commented that there seems to be a shortage of individual parts for repairs.
This is only the latest instance of the coronavirus affecting Apple's operations and supply chains. In Italy, Apple Stores have been closed and the company has enforced travel restrictions on employees going to Italy, China, and South Korea. We also heard last month that restrictions in China caused a more general shortage of iPhones. Apple reportarily closed all 42 of its stores in China because of the virus, but as of Wednesday 38 of them have been re-opened.
