From PC Mag: If you have fond memories of Microsoft's entry-level Surface Go tablet, it looks as though the expected second-generation model is imminent and it's received a welcome performance upgrade.
As Liliputing reports, via WinCentral, a new listing has appeared at the FCC for a "Portable Computing Device" along with a short list of specs. Those hardware details line up with a leak from January of the purported Surface Go 2 spec, strongly suggesting this is the Go 2 passing through the FCC. So what can we expect from Microsoft's second-gen tablet?
The listing reveals the tablet is powered by an Intel Core m3-8100Y running at 1.1GHz and complemented by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in the form of a Toshiba SSD. Compare that to the first-generation Surface Go, which used a Pentium Gold 4415Y, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of eMMC storage. It could well be the FCC listing is for a higher-end Surface Go 2, matching the higher-end first-gen models, though. As Microsoft most likely wants to hit the $399 price point again, we could see a 4GB/64GB model appear at launch, but hopefully still using the Core m3 chip. The listing also confirmed we should expect Wi-Fi and 4G LTE models.
