Google's Find My Device Can Now Locate Lost Pixel Buds

From PC Mag: Absent-minded Pixel Buds owners can now get help tracking down their easily misplaced tiny earbuds. Google's second-generation earbuds will now appear in the Find My Device app.

As 9To5Google reports, simply log into the Android app or access it via the web to see your connected Pixel Buds, the phone they were last connected to, and the time and date. Information is displayed on a map with a headphones icon pinned to a gray background. The integration was first spotted during an APK teardown in June. This slow rollout, however, means some folks' Buds won't yet show up in Search as part of the "find device" query. Google did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment.

The wireless earbuds—announced at the Pixel 4 hardware event in October and released this April—come with a built-in microphone for one-touch Google Assistant access and live translation capabilities. A companion app displays battery life and settings, and lets users play a sound to locate lost Buds (connected via Fast Pair to a device running Android 6.0 or newer).

Currently available in white, the $179 Pixel Buds are coming soon in orange, mint, and black; interested customers can join the waitlist to find out when new colors debut. According to PCMag analyst Sascha Segan, the Buds are attractive and comfortable, with sharp software integration, but the earbuds fall short in the sound department and, "put Google Assistant first, audio second."
