Twitter Starts Testing Clubhouse-Like 'Spaces' on Android

From PC Mag: Twitter is expanding beta testing of its audio chat room feature Spaces to Android devices.

Introduced in December for a handful of iPhone owners, the Clubhouse competitor is branching out. The Android beta began Tuesday, when users were invited to join conversations—but not yet host their own Spaces, according to a tweet. "We're still working out some things," Twitter said, encouraging folks to "keep your [eyes] out for live Spaces."

For now, iOS admins retain full control over who can and cannot speak in their Space. Twitter is also testing hand gesture-like reactions, live transcriptions, sharing tweets, and the ability to report and block people. There is no word on when the function will be available to all users.

"Our new experiment brings people together to connect directly in an intimate, conversational space. We imagine the best Spaces to feel like a well-hosted dinner party," Twitter said in December. "At a bomb dinner party, you don't need to know everyone to have a great time, but everyone feels comfortable at the table. We wanted Spaces to have that magic feeling, too."
