Uber Ends Support for Apple Watch

From PC Mag: Uber quietly ended support for Apple Watch late last year, forcing users to instead reach for their phone to hail a ride.

Despite Monday's report by MacRumors—confirmed by Uber's Help page—the wearable platform (as of press time) remains available for download from the App Store, but only displays a message encouraging folks to "switch to the mobile app."

"Please switch to the Uber mobile app. We no longer [support] the Apple Watch app. Sorry for the inconvenience," the notification said, followed by a sad-but-relieved emoji. Uber did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment. According to Ars Technica, the company updated its Help page on Tuesday to reflect the change.

Among the first Apple Watch App Store listings in 2015, Uber's barebones app allowed users to request a car directly from their wrist—with the added bonus that if your wearable has a cellular connection, you could leave your iPhone at home and still catch a ride.
