From ExtremeTech: We've been talking about Intel's upcoming Meteor Lake CPUs for over a year, and the image above was taken almost 18 months ago. It shows a 7nm Meteor Lake "dummy" CPU used to test the fab's packaging technology, as it contained no functional circuitry. However, Meteor Lake is due this summer, so it stands to reason it should be very close to launch by now despite rumors of delays. We have proof that it might arrive soon in the form of the first actual benchmark for the beleaguered platform. Sadly, the benchmark doesn't tell us much besides the core configuration, as the scores are surprisingly low for some reason.
The benchmark has appeared in the online database for Userbenchmark, per Hothardware. It shows someone was using a Dell Inspiron 13 5330 with what looks like Meteor Lake, as there's no Raptor Lake CPU with the equivalent cores and threads. The Inspiron is outfitted with 12 cores and 16 threads, which means it has four hyper-threaded P-cores for eight total, and then 8 E-cores for a total of 16. The listing says it has a base clock of 1.2GHz, but that it bizarrely ran at 550Mhz in the test giving it a terrible score. Meteor Lake is the company's first tile-based CPU, instead of monolithic, with four different tiles assembled for the CPU, GPU, I/O, and SoC.
