From PC Mag: Apple and OpenAI are reportedly planning a major announcement during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference on June 10.
Apple is expected to rely primarily on an on-device approach for its AI features; however, it’s also reportedly planning to deliver services via the cloud.
In his weekly PowerOn newsletter, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says Apple and Open AI "are preparing a major announcement of their partnership at WWDC," and that OpenAI is now racing to ensure it will be able to handle the influx of new users the iPhone will deliver.
This comes shortly after reports that Apple was in the final stages of hammering out a deal that would bring the chatbot to iOS 18; it seems like those negotiations were successful. Apple has reportedly also been in conversations with Google to include Gemini on the iPhone, but hasn't reached a deal there, Bloomberg says.
