From PC Mag: Hate wasting time each day opening and arranging the apps on your desktop? Microsoft has a new tool for PowerToys that will launch a group of apps in a set layout each time.
Microsoft PowerToys lets you add new capabilities and enhance existing features in Windows. As first spotted by Neowin, Microsoft recently previewed a new PowerToys tool called Workspaces, which is designed to help power users save time.
"The goal of app layouts is really to allow you as a developer to get into your workspaces and your workflows easier with just one click and get your desktop all set up with just one click," said Connor Plante, a Microsoft product manager, in a YouTube demo.
To create layouts, you launch Workspaces, open desired apps, and arrange them as needed. Then, after selecting the option to create a layout, the tool will record the screen to note preferences and lead you to a collage-maker-like dialog box. Here, you can review the layout before saving it. Once done, the layout shortcut will be saved to the desktop, and you can open it with a double-click.
