Nintendo Ends Its Gold Points Loyalty Program

From PC Mag: Nintendo is ending its My Nintendo Gold Points loyalty program on March 24.

“As of 9:30 PM PDT on March 24, 2025, it will no longer be possible to earn My Nintendo Gold Points when purchasing digital content” from Nintendo eShop, My Nintendo Store, and the official Nintendo website, or by redeeming download codes, the company announced on a support page.

The Gold Points program started in 2018 and allows customers to earn points by buying Switch games. At launch, customers earned gold points worth 5% of the amount they paid for a digital copy or 1% for physical ones. The earned points could then be redeemed while making Switch game purchases. As Engadget notes, customers needed a lot of points to make a substantial purchase, but it was still rewarding.

Customers can continue earning Gold Points until March 24. Since these points are valid for 12 months from the date of being earned, they can be “used to get a discount on Nintendo eShop purchases until they expire, even after the distribution of Gold Points has ended,” Nintendo said.
