From PC Mag: Cheap phones and tablets with low-end specs often skimp on internal storage to keep the price down, but we'll soon see the end of particularly stingy Android devices sporting just 16GB of storage.
Google's latest Android 15 update introduces a new restriction: phones and tablets must have 32GB of storage to run the full version of its latest software. The previous limit was 16GB, which posed problems as much of the space was used for Android software, limiting what you could download to your phone or tablet.
As spotted by Android Authority, Google has increased the minimum storage requirement for future devices as well as pre-existing devices set to be updated to Android 15. It's unlikely that many devices with 16GB of storage will see an update to the latest software, as cheaper devices from OEMs often aren't consistently updated.
Alongside the 32GB storage minimum, at least 75% of the space has to be available for the data partition, which is the element of your device's storage for preinstalled apps, system files, and everything you download to the phone.
