Nokia to Launch First 3G Handset for China

From PC World: Nokia plans to launch a mobile phone based on China's home grown 3G (third-generation) technology standard, TD-SCDMA, in tandem with service provider China Mobile.

Nokia's handset will be launched "very soon" said Wang Jianzhou, chairman and CEO of China Mobile, at the GSMA Mobile Asia Congress in Macau, China.

A dozen handsets, including some from LG Electronics and Samsung, are already available for use with TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) technology, which is only used in China.

The handset to be launched with China Mobile will be Nokia's first based on TD-SCDMA technology.
