From DailyTech: Dell announced this week that it would be reorganizing its global management structure to focus on four customer groups. The reorganization has left some executives looking for work according to CNET News. Dell will organize its management operations into groups for big businesses, government, and small-medium business. Dell already had a global consumer group. Michael Dell said in a statement, "We have laid the foundation for the transition from a global business that's run regionally to businesses that are really globally organized. Customer requirements are increasingly being defined by how they use technology rather than where they use it." As a result of the restructuring one of the first hires Dell made after returning to his namesake company as CEO, Mike Cannon, will be retiring on January 31 from his post as president of global operations. Another departing executive, Mark Jarvis, will leave his post as chief marketing officer during the fiscal quarter. Dell says that Jarvis will continue to advise dell and he will be replaced by Erin Nelson, the former VP of marketing for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Dell's Chief Information Officer Steve Schuckenbrock will lead Dell's large enterprises group, Paul Bell will lead the public-sector group, and Steve Felice will lead the small and medium business group.
