From X-bit labs: Asustek Computer, a leading maker of computer components as well as mobile computers, has confirmed its intention to introduce an easy-to-use smartphone under its Asus Eee brand. The device will not only be able to serve as a handset, but will also be able to control other Asus devices. According to Jonney Shih, the chairman of Asustek Computer, personal computers will become not only a part of daily routine, but will go into virtually any device or item. In order to control all of those devices, one product will be needed, says Mr. Shih in an interview with the New York Times news-paper. In fact, that device is in the development: the low-cost Asus Eee smartphone. “That Eee phone may become an interactive control. The whole digital network is the key,” claims Mr. Shih. Unfortunately, the chairman of Asustek did not real any details regarding the Eee Phone besides the fact that the device is currently being designed and will have capabilities to control other devices, which naturally points to support of wireless technologies, such as Bluetooth.
