From X-bit Labs: Even though Intel Corp. does have concerns regarding the viability of cross-license agreement with Advanced Micro Devices in the light of the spinning off AMD’s fabs into the joint-venture with Advanced Technologies Investment Company (ATIC) called The Foundry Company (TFC), the world’s largest chipmaker denies any intentions to stop the creation of yet another contract maker of semiconductors. Recently Intel sent AMD a letter, requesting a meeting on the current cross-licensing agreement between the two companies, reports InformationWeek web-site. While no claims were made, AMD said that such a letter was an attempt to bloc the foundation of the Foundry Company and a yet another attempt to undermine AMD’s abilities to compete against Intel. "We believe that the letter is another attempt by our competitor to cause uncertainty as we approach our Asset Smart deal closing next month," AMD spokesman Drew Prairie said in an e-mail. However, Intel claims that it has no plans to stop AMD’s Asset Smart attention or TFC. “Intel has not and does not intend to block or any other way hinder the formation of the Foundry Co. What we are concerned about is the licensing rights. We certainly would be open to discussion and finding a way to resolve this,” an Intel spokesperson is reported to have said.
