Nintendo Reveals Best Selling Games for Wii, DS

From DailyTech: Nintendo has revealed sales figures for 26 first-party games that have sold over a million copies. Sales figures for top selling Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii games were provided. Sales include games that were sold as part of hardware bundles.

Wii Sports topped the list for Nintendo Wii games at 40.5 million copies sold. VGChartz has declared Nintendo's sports simulation game as the most successful video game of all time. Wii Sports has surpassed Super Mario Brothers for the Nintendo Entertainment System which is estimated to have sold 40.24 million copies.

Wii Play placed second selling 20.91 million copies, while Wii Fit was third at 14.01 million copies sold. On December 1 2007, the Wii Fit launched in Japan. At the time it was unclear how much of a success the Wii Fit would become in Japan and the rest of the world. With sales exceeding 14 million copies, the Wii Fit has been an unbridled success.

Other famous first party titles that have sold well include Mario Kart Wii at 13.67 million, Super Smash Bros. Brawl at 8.1 million, Super Mario Galaxy at 7.66 million, and Mario Party 8 at 6.28 million.

For the Nintendo DS, Nintendogs is currently the most successful software title with sales of 21.67 million. The pet simulation game has been released in five different versions since debuting in 2005. For other successful DS games, New Super Mario Brothers was second at 17.63 million units sold, and Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day was third at 16.82 million.
