How did 1MORE do with their first ever open design earbuds? For starters, I can say this product definitely has its positives. For one, the 1MORE Fit Open Earbuds S50 is built nicely. The matte plastic feels solid, and will not leave fingerprints or oils marks easily. The hard plastic also feels durable. These same comments apply for the carrying case, which also is very solidly built, although it is a bit on the larger size due to the nature of the ear hooks. The tested battery life is good, easily reaching what 1MORE advertised of 11 hours. The IPX7 rating is a very nice touch, and the touch controls are easy to use and intuitive. I found the pairing process to be intuitive enough, and I also can appreciate other aspects of this product such as battery life reporting of the earbuds and the LED indicator on the charging case. I do wish 1MORE found a way to make wearing the earbuds more comfortable, which proved to be an unfortunate determent over time. When it came to the actual sound quality, the 1MORE Fit Open Earbuds S50 was an odd experience to me, coming out with an inverse W-shaped sound signature, which some users may find off-putting. I do appreciate the advantages that these earbuds provide over your conventional closed-design earbuds with aspects like soundstaging, although this may come down more to personal preference. Addition codec support for LDAP or aptX will be nice. At a retail price of $85 at press time, the price is reasonable. If you are looking to save money on earbuds, the TOZO Open Buds are available for $50, while the 1MORE Fit SE Open Earbuds S30 is $70. Otherwise, there is a wide array of excellent closed design earphones in a similar price range, so choose according to your budget and preference.
