Page 4 - Conclusion
From our inspections and testing, be quiet! has done well with their Dark Perk lineup and the Sym is a strong entrant. Starting with the physical design, the Dark Perk Sym has a clean aesthetic. This uses an ultralight 55g, symmetrical body with a favorable surface to grip and solid structural integrity. Buttons are easily accessible and nice to press. The ambidextrous design makes it flexible for both left- and right-handed users too. In the details, be quiet! shows attention with specific items like an angled-up connector to prevent cable drag, an extension for the wireless dongle, and an additional set of Teflon skates. In our performance tests, with the be quiet! Dark Perk Sym, there are very few things to complain about. Button clicks are quiet and low-pitched while still being satisfying to press. The PixArt PAW3950 sensor inside tracks well in all gaming and technical scenarios. For a wireless mouse, the battery life is exceptional, and we were able to get well over a month of use at standard 1000Hz polling rate before needing to recharge. I also appreciate the intuitive and flexible nature of IO Center, as the Dark Perk Sym can be configured either through a web interface or an installed utility, without having to deal with any compromises. When it comes to future suggestions, it would be nice to see more color to distinguish the be quiet! mice from others. I also would like the Dark Perk Sym to wake up from sleep a bit faster. I should mention there are still holes at the bottom where foreign materials could enter. At the time of the review, the be quiet! Dark Perk Sym is priced at $100 and lands in a comparable price range as the Turtle Beach Burst II Air. This may come at a bit of a price premium, but the fact the Dark Perk Sym executes all the basics and comes with some extras means this is a strong ambidextrous gaming mouse that is easy to recommend.
