Is the BLUETTI AC70 the equivalent of that friend who is good at everything? While it is not perfect, this portable power station is a pretty solid option whether you want to go camping and need something to power your devices or need a battery backup for critical computers and electronics at home in case of a power failure. To start, it comes in a very reasonable form factor for something equipped with such a massive 768Wh LiFePO4 battery. The AC70 tips the scales 22.5 lbs and measures in at 31.5cm in width, 25.7cm in height, and 20.8cm in depth. While you probably do not want to throw it in your backpack to go hiking with, it is much lighter and easier to handle than a gas generator for camping trips. If you choose to use it at home as a power backup source, it is pretty easy to find a place for it to reside. Functionally, there is a good number of connectors for all your power needs, and the LCD screen is useful for monitoring its operational status and configuring settings. The AC70 also delivered solid performance. According to my tests, it met the promised capacity, has the ability to deliver power consistently, is capable of high burst power, and the UPS mode works without a hitch. The 3000 cycle rated battery charges reasonably quickly, and the internal fan is quiet during operation. One thing to note is Power Lifting mode works, but it is capped at 1000W, so your hair dryer will not run at full speed. Of course, there are some areas I have identified as areas of improvement. BLUETTI should add an 80% charge limit for those who plan to use it plugged in all the time as a UPS. The built-in user interface was a bit unintuitive. Lastly, there should be authentication for new Bluetooth devices, as anyone with the app can gain full control of the portable power station without physically interacting with it. For about $400 at press time, the BLUETTI AC70 is a well-designed portable power station with a massive battery, solid array of charging and powering options, as well as great performance for a reasonable price.
