Page 4 - Conclusion
The K70 PRO TKL is Corsair's latest tenkeyless keyboard to feature magnetic switches, yet much of its design remains familiar. It retains Corsair's signature design, with a clean, island-style layout and exposed key switches. This keyboard also includes all of the essentials, such as a volume knob, RGB LED backlighting, and surprisingly well-made double-shot ABS keycaps. I also appreciate the magnetic rest, which stays in place and provides a soft, comfortable landing spot for my palms. Additionally, the K70 PRO TKL features numerous secondary functions, allowing users to adjust settings directly on the keyboard without installing Corsair's iCUE utility. This includes backlighting effects and Hall effect-specific settings like actuation distance and rapid trigger. The biggest addition is the magnetic Hall effect switches under all of the alphanumeric switches, delivering a customizable typing experience. Corsair has refined the small details, incorporating two layers of silicone damping and factory-lubricated switches and stabilizers for a quieter and smoother feel. As for iCUE, the software is intuitive, provides customization options, and allows you to save profiles directly to the keyboard. Even so, there are a few areas of improvement. For one, Corsair should have used magnetic switches across the entire board for a consistent feel on all keys. Secondly, PBT keycaps should be standard rather than being a $10 option, especially given the premium nature of this keyboard. Thirdly, a braided cable would have been a nice touch for durability. At the time of the review, the Corsair K70 PRO TKL is available for as low as $120 USD, making it a solid value from a reputable brand. Even in light of my suggestions for improvement, there is no denying the Corsair K70 PRO TKL is a formidable Hall effect keyboard.
