Corsair K70 RGB Pro Review (Page 3 of 3)

Page 3 - Conclusion

The company says the Corsair K70 RGB Pro retains all the excellent features the series is known for, including a solid aluminum frame, Cherry MX switches, and per-key RGB LED backlighting, while adding AXON technology and a tournament switch. Does "the legend continue" with this mechanical keyboard as Corsair claims? I can attest to the fact the K70 RGB Pro does indeed have a solid aluminum frame that flexes and bends little, excellent original Cherry MX switches you have come to expect, and well-implemented RGB LED backlighting. The well-implemented RGB LED backlighting was made possible by Corsair's well-designed iCUE4 software along with the keyboard's powerful ARM Cortex M4 processor. The ARM Cortex M4 processor also powers AXON features like the insane 8000Hz polling and 4000Hz key scanning rate. Combine this with the 8MB of internal storage for as many profiles as it can physically hold, the K70 RGB Pro packs a lot of punch under the hood. Back on the surface, I am a fan of its solid PBT keycaps, clean classic design, and detachable USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable. The magnetically attached wrist rest is also well-designed and well-made. The Tournament Switch with switch cover only adds to the experience for those who want to minimize distraction and accidents during intense gaming settings. There are a few minor areas of improvement in my opinion. First, regarding the Tournament Switch, adding a sticker on it to let users know activating it will disable iCUE detection will be helpful. Second, make the procedure for saving profiles onto the keyboard's internal memory more intuitive. Lastly, the volume mute indicator bug, which does not turn off once activated, should be fixed in a future firmware revision. All of these are minor issues though, as all of them are either inconsequential or can be easily fixed by the manufacturer after you buy the keyboard. For $160 at press time, the Corsair K70 RGB Pro comes in no chump change, but the quality and features make it a solid choice for a retail keyboard.
