Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT Review (Page 3 of 3)

Page 3 - Conclusion

The Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT promises to be an improvement over the popular non-XT version with an updated wrist rest, PBT keycaps, and really everything you would ever want in a keyboard. Does it try to be something it is not like our argumentative friend, or is it really good at what it is intended for? In my opinion, it is very clearly the latter. The Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT really is everything you ever want in a keyboard. It features a classic tried-and-true Corsair design that fits well with the APH Networks keyboard design philosophy; where you get a clean reference layout, real Cherry MX switches, dedicated media controls, and full RGB backlighting with the company's excellent iCUE software. There are even extra included keycaps for different types of gamers and six dedicated buttons for macro or Elgato Stream Deck. Some of my favorite improvements over the classic K95 include the 1.5mm thick PBT double shot keycaps and updated wrist rest with padded with soft foam wrapped in leatherette. Combined with the ultra solid and good looking brushed aluminum backplate and 8MB onboard memory for five onboard profiles, the Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT is a real winner in so many ways. There are a few things I think will make the keyboard better though. First, use higher quality leatherette or leather and denser foam for the wrist rest. Second, use a detachable cable with a USB Type-C port on the keyboard side like the Cooler Master SK650. Third, replace the USB 2.0 passthrough port with a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port. These are about all my recommendations though. For an MSRP of $200 and surely a better deal will come from your favorite retailer, the Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT gives you a lot of keyboard for your money.
