Page 4 - Benchmark: ATTO Disk Benchmark
About ATTO Disk Benchmark
The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often quoted benchmark, because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers, and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so SandForce based SSDs and similar will perform very well here; as far as the Silicon Motion SM2246EN is concerned -- well, here are our results. As manufacturer peak read and write performance ratings are usually obtained using ATTO, whether a drive lives up to its marketing claims or not can be validated by this program. Crucial claims the BX100 500GB's maximum read and maximum write are pinned at 535MB/s and 450MB/s, respectively. According to our tests, these numbers were pretty close, with the read slightly underrated. It peaked at 564.467MB/s read and 454.552MB/s write. Under the curve, it was much faster than the MX100 256GB in both categories. In terms of write, it edged out the Phison based Silicon Power Slim S80 240GB and Patriot Blaze 240GB in the ramp up speed, but did not peak as high. On the other hand, it peaked higher than the Phison duo in the read test, but had a slower ramp up speed. Still, the SanDisk Ultra II 240GB remains the king in the value category, but the BX100 is more of a value-value drive.
