About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next are our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers, and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so compression-heavy controllers will perform very well here.

As far as the Crucial controller on the P5 Plus is concerned, well, here are our results. The Crucial P5 Plus 2TB peaked at 6140MB/s read and 4780MB/s write. Under the read curve, it was a bit slower, but otherwise comparable to its 1TB variant. This meant it had acceptable ramp up speed for a budget mainstream drive. Its peak speed was about 200MB/s slower than the P5 Plus 1TB though.

Under the write curve, the Crucial P5 Plus 2TB continued to deliver acceptable ramp-up speed for a budget mainstream drive, but this time, delivering marginally better performance compared to the P5 Plus 1TB. Compared to the P3 Plus series, well, there was simply no comparison -- the P3 Plus series had higher numbers at every transfer size in both read and write, which is unfortunate consider that is a lower end model. Overall, the Crucial P5 Plus 2TB's performance was acceptable in this test, thanks to the fast PCIe 4.0 interface.
