The Epomaker Galaxy68 is definitely a great contender when it comes to aluminum 65% keyboards. The Galaxy68 offers an aluminum case that comes in two different colors, has excellent build quality, and offers great lighting effects. Our Black White unit is nice and simple, keeping a standard black on white approach. The Galaxy68 uses VIA, which is an amazing open-source software that allows you to rebind keys, customize lighting settings, setup macros, and save the profile. The pre-lubricated Feker Marble White switches offer great performance and smoothness. The sound profile offered using these switches is quite “clacky”, partially due to the foam throughout the internals of the keyboard. Inside of the case, we find a gasket design with gasket socks on the edge of the plate. This offers a surprisingly small amount of bounce when typing. Given the flexible nature of this mounting style, Epomaker has made a conscious decision to add a layer of plastic below the PCB, underneath the foam, to prevent the user from shorting out the keyboard. There was an excellent level of care when designing this keyboard. The lighting options are quite appealing, having light shine around the keycaps, through the logo, and by under glow. The battery life of the Galaxy68 is quite good, estimating it to last the average user about a week and a half over the wireless dongle. A gripe I had with the keyboard was the fact that I could not get the 2.4GHz connection operational despite attempts to pair them, which is likely an isolated incident for a defective receiver. At a price of $100 USD at press time, the Epomaker Galaxy68 is a great choice for anyone looking for an aluminum 65% keyboard that has wireless capabilities.
