GAMDIAS Hermes M4 Hybrid Review (Page 3 of 3)

Page 3 - Conclusion

When it comes to Greek mythology, Hermes is the god of messages. The GAMDIAS Hermes M4 fulfills its namesake of being a well-built keyboard to convey messages. To start, the build quality is top notch with the aluminum backplate and solid frame, which resists to flexing well. It also gives the Huano Red switches a satisfying sound in use, especially as they bottom out. There are plenty of great RGB lighting options for the Hermes M4, which a good library of it can be found in software. The 65% form factor is great for those who want a compact keyboard without sacrificing directional keys. The battery life is another big upside as well. Its 3000 mAh battery lasts quite long with consistent use, even with the backlight on. However, there are some things to note. Although the build quality is top notch, its frame increase the size quite a bit. The 65% size is meant for portability, but its dimensions are extended in every dimension, making it slightly bigger than the usual 65% keyboard. The Huano Red springs are not as crisp as other Red switches I have used. The wireless options for customization are severely limited. You cannot change much of the lighting options in wireless mode, which seems rather strange. They are only available when the keyboard is connected directly to your computer via USB. The polling rate drops to half over wireless compared to wired. Lastly, the software triggering my antivirus program seems a little bit unsettling. At an MSRP of about $60, the GAMDIAS Hermes M4 is a well-built 65% wireless keyboard that offers a lot of value, but refinement in features and software will significantly improve the user experience.
