PCMark 8 Storage Consistency Test is one of our favorite benchmarks. Nowadays, many drives are well optimized for high benchmark scores when they are empty, but what separates the professional players from the amateurs is how it stands up to a truly punishing workload. PCMark 8's Storage Consistency Test is designed exactly for this purpose. Going through five phases -- precondition, degradation, steady state, recovery, and clean up -- to extend beyond real world application simulations, this benchmark takes just over two days to complete, but the results are revealing of a SSD's true capabilities. First, I compared it against the SX8200 Pro in the same performance class, where the latter was about 2.33% faster on average. Next, I compared the AORUS RGB AIC against the Viper VPN100, another SSD with nearly identical components, resulting in the Viper VPN100 faster by about 7.80% on average. Lastly, the venerable WD Black SN750 turned out to be about 25.6% faster than the AORUS RGB AIC on average. Overall, the Gigabyte AORUS RGB AIC NVMe SSD 512GB's performance in this benchmark was appropriate for its performance class.
