Page 10 - Overclocking and Conclusion
With decently tight latencies at 15-17-17-35 and operating at 1.20V out of the box, what can we do if we loosened up the timings and bumped the voltage up to 1.35V? In the past, you can expect at least 10% of overclocking headroom, but it looks like times have changed. In fact, there was only one kit out of the four we tested today that had any shot at beyond its rated specifications; even at that, it was a measly 3% -- I will let you know which kit it is in the coming weeks. For the Kingston HyperX Fury HX426C15FBK4/32 4x8GB, I tried DDR3-2800 at 16-18-18-36, which did not work. My computer still would not start after increasing the voltage to 1.35V. Lastly, I relaxed the latencies to 17-19-19-37 with no success. At the end of the day, while RAM overclocking is nice to have, for the sake of stability, I usually do not do it, especially knowing you do not gain much in the end. So what makes the case for Kingston's HyperX Fury HX426C15FBK4/32 4x8GB? The company is known for making high quality products, and equipped with black low profile heatspreaders for a very subtle appearance, the latest from Kingston's mainstream performance line delivers solid performance against the competition. Low profile means wide compatibility, and it is backed by the company's excellent lifetime guarantee. Simply put, the HyperX Fury DDR4-2666 quad kit is low on power and high on capacity. Retailing for around $210 at press time, the HyperX Fury HX426C15FBK4/32 comes at a good price. The HX426C15FBK4/32 4x8GB is a great DDR4 kit for being understated in appearance, but solid in performance, and loaded with capacity.

Since April 30, 2007, Number Ratings have been dropped for all CPUs, motherboards, RAM, SSD/HDDs, and graphics cards. This is to ensure the most appropriate ratings are reflected without the inherent limits of using numbers. Everything else will continue using the Number Rating System.
