In the introduction of this review, we have set out to find out "what the fudge is this crap" about the OCZ Vertex 450 256GB. I mean, what is it? It is not the 450th generation of the Vertex line. But if it was, and if Winston Churchill was writing this review today, he would have said, "Let us therefore brace ourselves to our storage drives, and so bear ourselves, that if OCZ and its engineering team last for four hundred and fifty years, men will still say, this was their finest SSD." Okay, where am I going with this, haha. My point is, while the OCZ Vertex 450 256GB is not the fastest single solid state drive the company ever made, this SSD holds merit in a sense it is really a 'Vector Lite' in every way. If you have been following technology news for the last little while, and have read our past review on the OCZ Vector 256GB, you will know OCZ's flagship is one fine drive. Built with almost identical hardware under the hood, and delivering roughly 90% of the benchmarking performance as the OCZ Vector (Which means, you will probably experience negligible difference in real life), the OCZ Vertex 450 256GB is one fine storage device to behold. Commanding a retail price of approximately $230 at press time, this SSD promises a lot -- and delivers a lot -- for the price it commands. If you are looking for cutting edge performance without paying cutting edge price, the OCZ Vertex 450 256GB is the one to buy.
