About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark, because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so compression-heavy controllers will perform very well here. As manufacturer peak read and write performance ratings are usually achieved using ATTO, whether a drive lives up to its marketing claims or not can be validated by this program. Patriot claims maximum read and write numbers of 1700MB/s and 1100MB/s, respectively. According to our tests, the read speeds peaked at 1740.479MB/s, but the write speeds reached 1552.397MB/s. These are average numbers for a budget NVMe drive, but it is surprising to see the peak write speed surpass the rated numbers from Patriot. In terms of ramp-up, the Patriot P300 512GB was not too bad at smaller packet sizes for its write. However, it definitely took a longer time to reach its peak read tests, and the smaller packet numbers were quite a bit slower. Compared to other drives in this price region, it was faster at the lower sizes for write compared to the WD Blue SN550 1TB, and similar to the Crucial P1 500GB. However, it was the slowest in read ramp-up. Overall, the Patriot P300 512GB had acceptable results, but at lower packet sizes the numbers were a bit more mixed.
