Page 10 - Overclocking and Conclusion

With the way DDR5 RAM prices are, you are going to have to pay to play -- and the Patriot Viper Elite 5 Ultra DDR5-6000 2x48GB is no exception at $450 last time I checked. That is, if you can even get your hands on them. With this kind of supply and demand crisis, are they good for your hard-earned cash? As always, I started off to see how much we can overclock them. There was basically no room to move at 28-40-40-100 stock latencies, but since these are likely lower-binned SK hynix M-die ICs, if I loosened the timings to match the Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-8400 2x24GB at 40-52-52-135, what kind of frequencies can we hit? As you can see in my screenshot above, I was able to produce a 1.2GHz increase to DDR5-7200, Prime95 stable, at stock 1.40V. This is a solid 20% overclock, which is very impressive, considering this is a 96GB set. For benchmark results, the Patriot Viper Elite 5 Ultra DDR5-6000 2x48GB tested with my Intel Core Ultra 7 265K delivered solid performance for its class. The medium-profile heatspreaders will not likely interfere with anything, and should anything go wrong, there is lifetime warranty like other Patriot Viper memory products. One thing to note is the Viper Elite 5 Ultra are not CUDIMMs, so there is no clock driver used to regenerate the clock cycle for improve stability at higher frequencies. If you can get your hands on these, the Patriot Viper Elite 5 Ultra DDR5-6000 2x48GB is a large capacity kit that offers competitive performance and lots of overclocking potential.

Since April 30, 2007, Number Ratings have been dropped for all CPUs, motherboards, RAM, SSD/HDDs, and graphics cards. This is to ensure the most appropriate ratings are reflected without the inherent limits of using numbers. Everything else will continue using the Number Rating System.
