ROCCAT Kone Pure Owl-Eye Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

Sharing the same name as the ROCCAT Kone EMP, I can definitely tell you ROCCAT has brought a lot of what we like from the Kone EMP and placed it in the Kone Pure Owl-Eye. First of all, ROCCAT maintained the excellent relative shape and build quality. Its design is great, as it conforms to hands and has a surface that is easy to hold onto. Secondly, the button and tracking performance are excellent. Both audio and tactile feedback from the buttons is great, and the Owl-Eye sensor inside deserves high praise for consistently tracking well. When it comes to the differences between the two brothers though, I have to say ROCCAT has kept what I want in a mouse with a smaller size and a lighter weight. While the size may be small for some users, I personally prefer this size and weight of this nimble Kone. Finally, the entire experience is rounded off with one of the better software utilities I have seen, with customization in many places and macros beyond belief. If there is anything to suggest for change to ROCCAT, it would be really the small things, like fixing the RGB color flow transitions or adding a visual indicator for the current profile or sensitivity setting. Even so, these details are polish and the overall impression of the ROCCAT Kone Pure Owl-Eye is excellent in my books. To be fair, if you are interested in a larger mouse, you should set your sights on the Kone EMP, as it performs just as well, but in a larger body. At a retail price of approximately $70 USD, the ROCCAT Kone Pure Owl-Eye may not look like the cheapest of mice, but what you get is well worth the extra money. If you have smaller hands or are looking for a light mouse, then the Kone Pure Owl-Eye should definitely be on your shortlist of candidates.
