How does the ROCCAT Kone XP hold up? To put it simply, the Kone XP is a solid mouse for gaming and productivity. The PixArt PAW3370-based Owl-Eye sensor is an impressive piece of hardware that was precise in its tracking, has reasonable lift-off distance, and is quick with button clicks. Speaking of buttons, the ROCCAT Kone XP comes with an impressive ten programmable hardware buttons, which gives enthusiasts plenty of options for various button mapping combinations. These combinations can be further extended thanks to the five user-settable profiles that can be configured on the Kone XP. Two sensitivity adjustment buttons are found among the many buttons, which is always a plus to me as it makes reaching your desired sensitivity easier. The mouse is solidly built with a solid plastic frame and a clean black-and-white color scheme. All the buttons feel nice and crisp to click. The ROCCAT Kone XP glides well on all flat surfaces, which is thanks to the PTFE feet at the bottom and the PhantomFlex braided cable. The RGB LED lighting is simply captivating on the mouse with the entire back of the mouse illuminating the colors. The translucent shell makes it so the RGB LED lighting shines right through. The Swarm software is effective for changing up the colors and customizing the button functions under different profiles. With that said, the ROCCAT Swarm user interface would benefit from a significant update, as it looks the same now as it did back in 2016. It is also important to note that this mouse is on the heavier side, which is not necessarily a total negative, but gamers who like a light mouse for swift movement may want to look elsewhere. This is a minor point, but I do also wish that there was some kind of visual indication for when you toggle sensitivity like we have seen from other models. For $90 at press time, the ROCCAT Kone XP is a great mouse with captivating RGB LED lighting, variety of programmable buttons, and a solid performer for gaming.
