About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark, because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers, and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. By varying the file transfer size, you can visually see how each product performs across the curve. In the Read section, the Seagate IronWolf ST12000VN0007 12TB performed quite well, but it was not as good as the WD Black 6TB and WD Red Pro 6TB. Its ramp up speed profile was very similar to the Seagate BarraCuda Pro 10TB, BarraCuda Pro 12TB, and IronWolf Pro 12TB, which, in a traditional Seagate fashion, was very good. The IronWolf ST12000VN0007 reached close to peak rate at 4K and above, which was quite quick. Its peak read rate came in at 275.036MB/s, which was just ahead of the BarraCuda Pro 12TB at 266.437MB/s and IronWolf Pro 12TB at 259.985MB/s; all crazy fast by 2017/2018 standards. In the Write section, it also reached its peak rate at 4K and above. With a top write speed of 271.695MB/s, this, again, was incredible in coming in just ahead of the BarraCuda Pro 12TB at 263.818MB/s and IronWolf 12TB at 258.732MB/s. It still could not beat the WD Red Pro 6TB and Black 6TB in ramp up speed though. Again, I was surprised the IronWolf pulled marginally ahead of the IronWolf Pro of the same capacity in this test.
