SilverStone IceGem 280 Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

As I was saying in the beginning, as someone who is working in the foods industry, please do not order from online delivery services when closing hours are approaching. The employees who want to go home do not get much from these late orders, but they have to wait for a driver to appear before they are finally able to depart from the store. Waiting for a driver is like waiting for cooling performance test results; hopeful at every little change. Starting with the packaging of the SilverStone IceGem 280, I found it to be very well done and simplistic, likewise to many other AIO coolers. The installation was unexpectedly simple for having so many installation options for the wide variety of supported processors. When considering the appearance, I personally do enjoy the appearance of the crystal appearance as it reminds me of ice, as its name suggests. The performance provided by this cooler was astonishing. The idle test provided a glimpse of the IceGem 280’s performance, beating out all other competitors by a considerable margin, even the likes of other AIO coolers like the Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML280 Mirror. Under load, the IceGem 280 simply laughed at the heat. The noise levels were very reasonable given the dual fans and rated airflow, especially when my system was idling, but I can see some people having issues with the noise if they are constantly running heavy loads on their workstations. That said, the IceGem 280 is no louder than the competition, so this is a bit of a moot point. I do wish the water block was nickel plated though. At a price of about $165 USD, this is probably one of the most expensive coolers we have ever tested here at APH Networks. This cooler is definitely a premium option for builders. Given all this, if you have a high-end system or are looking to cool a Ryzen Threadripper processor with an unlimited budget, the SilverStone IceGem 280 looks good and performs extremely well.
