SteelSeries Rival 700 Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

There are certainly a lot of reasons why you should be excited about the SteelSeries Rival 700. It is not just because of its OLED screen and Tactile Alerts, although both of them definitely add to the list. The ultra-wide sensitivity range PixArt PMW3360 sensor is the best in the business with no noticeable jitter, super sharp response, lag free performance, and incredibly precise tracking on all tested surfaces. If you do not like the PMW3360, you can even swap it for the PixArt 9800 laser sensor. How is that for flexibility? The Rival 700's comfortable contoured shape with the textured anti-sweat finish and rubber side grips is a joy to hold at all times; combined with generally well-placed quality buttons that delivers crisp and distinct clicks, hardware wise, this mouse is a real winner. It is even well weighted for all intents and purposes. As the icing on the cake, you get a dual zone SteelSeries Prism RGB LED illumination system, onboard memory that also synchronizes settings with the cloud, and two cables for different usage scenarios. If there is anything SteelSeries can improve on, the list is short, even if I am being picky. Firstly, I found the auxiliary button next to the OLED screen is in a slightly awkward shape and position. Secondly, although the OLED screen is useful changing settings, showing in-game statistics, or displaying a custom image, it is currently a low resolution monochrome display. Increasing its pixel count and making it color will make it so much cooler. For $100 at press time, the SteelSeries Rival 700 is quite the mouse to behold. Whether you are a hardcore gaming or office professional looking for something that takes comfort, features, and performance to a whole new level, this is the mouse you have been looking for. Now the only question is, where is the SteelSeries Rival 700 Wireless?
