Turtle Beach Atom Controller Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

The Turtle Beach Atom Controller will probably not convert me to a mobile gamer, but it does make the jump from PC a bit easier. For one, the Atom comes in a compact and portable package. Its form factor is neat and gives your phone a Nintendo Switch-like experience. When it is installed, the Atom Controller feels light but sturdy. Its bulbous body is comfortable and fits nicely into your palms. The Atom Controller also has endurance to spare with a lengthy 24-hour tested battery life and fast charge time to keep you gaming for longer periods. In use, the experience was a bit more mixed. On one hand, the motion and feel of the thumbsticks and shoulder buttons were satisfying. There was no perceived latency or input lag with the Atom Controller. On the other hand, I found the primary buttons and D-pad to be a bit spongey in its travel. Those with larger hands may also find these buttons a bit too small or close together. In addition, the Atom Controller does lack compatibility with a couple of games. I also would have liked to see iOS support, even if it means making a variant for the Atom. Other areas of improvement include the mobile utility app, which has several usability issues, and the phone clips that do not account for thicker cases. At the time of the review, the Turtle Beach Atom Controller has an MSRP of $100, but it can be found on sale for $20 less. All in all, if you are looking for an Android gamepad that lets you play seamlessly for long periods, then the Turtle Beach Atom Controller is a worthy option.
