About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next are our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so compression-heavy controllers will perform very well here. As far as the SanDisk controller on the SN850 is concerned, well, here are our results. As manufacturer peak read and write performance ratings are usually achievable using ATTO, whether a drive lives up to its marketing claims or not can be validated by this program. Western Digital claims the SN850 1TB's maximum read and maximum write are pinned at 7000MB/s and 5300MB/s, respectively. The tested results were close to, but not quite, the advertised figures. It peaked at 6590MB/s read and 4900MB/s write. Under the curve, its write speed was very similar to the SN750 1TB until 2KB, where the SN750 held the lead until 32KB and the SN850 totally pulled away. The read section shared a similar story. The SN750 held the lead between 4K and 16K, then the SN850 completely dominated the rest. Overall, the WD_BLACK SN850 1TB's performance was excellent compared to its predecessor, especially with its insane peak speeds afforded by the PCIe 4.0 interface.
