Corsair MP600 Core XT 2TB Review (Page 10 of 10)

Page 10 - Conclusion

How did the Corsair MP600 Core XT 2TB perform against other PCIe 4.0-based NVMe drives? Before we answer that question in detail, the MP600 Core XT 2TB is a budget drive with no DRAM, so keep this context in mind. Starting off with our synthetic tests, the Corsair MP600 Core XT 2TB delivered solid numbers, keeping up with some of the best SSDs in the market today. The real-world simulations gave less than stellar results though, with the MP600 Core XT 2TB being gapped by even budget DRAM-less drives like the Crucial P3 Plus 1TB by a considerable margin. Furthermore, the rated write endurance is rather low at only 450TBW, especially considering this is a 2TB model. There are many 1TB drives that have higher write endurance, never mind 2TB models. For example, the WD_BLACK SN770 NVMe SSD is rated at 600TBW. Lastly, let us talk about the price. The MP600 Core XT 2TB can be found for just $95 as of time of writing and comes with a 5-year warranty. While this is quite cheap for a 2TB drive, I cannot help but point out the WD_BLACK SN770 NVMe SSD 2TB can be found for an extra $5 at the time of time of writing, and the SN770 completely obliterates the MP600 Core XT in every area. The Crucial P3 Plus 2TB can also be found for $95 at the time of writing, which uses very similar hardware but delivers better performance in real-world simulations. All in all, the Corsair MP600 Core XT 2TB is a well-priced PCIe 4.0-based NVMe SSD from a reputable manufacturer, but its performance and write endurance leaves a lot to be desired.

Since April 30, 2007, Number Ratings have been dropped for all CPUs, motherboards, RAM, SSD/HDDs, and graphics cards. This is to ensure the most appropriate ratings are reflected without the inherent limits of using numbers. Everything else will continue using the Number Rating System.

The Corsair MP600 Core XT 2TB is an affordable DRAM-less PCIe 4.0-based NVMe SSD from a reputable manufacturer, but can use a boost in performance and write endurance to be competitive in today's market.
