Following up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often quoted benchmark, because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers, and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. By varying the file transfer size, you can visually see how each product performs across the curve. In the Read section, the Western Digital Red WD100EFAX 10TB was quite competitive. Its ramp up to 16K was very comparable to its 8TB counterpart. On the other hand, it pulled lower peak rates than the 7,200RPM Seagate IronWolf 10TB. This came in at 216.48MB/s, which was better than the WD80EFZX at 189.483MB/s, but not the ST10000VN0004 at 248.551MB/s. In the Write section, its initial ramp up was quite similar to the WD80EFZX, but posted a sizable lead for the rest of the transfer sizes. With a top write speed of 191.739MB/s, this, was better than both the WD Red 6TB and 8TB, but fell behind the Seagate IronWolf with a faster spindle speed.
