From PC World: The popular Angry Birds game franchise has struck gold again with its newest version called Angry Birds Rio . Game developers Rovio confirmed on Twitter the new mobile game reached 10 million downloads in 10 days of availability, breaking all records for the company so far.

The 10 million Angry Birds Rio downloads are across the iOS and Android mobile operating systems, covering both free and paid downloads. The game is tied in with the RIO animated movie, from the creators of Ice Age, with voices from Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway. The film will be released on April 15.

Angry Birds Rio is a paid title on the iOS platform, with a free trial version available. It costs $0.99 for the iPhone or iPod touch, and $2.99 for the iPad. On Google Android Market, Angry Birds Rio is available as a free download, as well as in Amazon's app store for Android, where the game was originally an exclusive on March 14. The Amazon app store is only available in the U.S. at the moment.

Angry Birds Rio sees the Angry Birds characters kidnapped and taken to Rio de Janeiro. The gameplay revolves around saving other captured birds. The game has 45 levels, but Rovio says more levels will be added via app updates.

The 10 million Angry Birds Rio downloads are a boon for Helsinky-based Rovio, who ranked in over 100 million downloads of Angry Birds games downloads across several platforms in the past 16 months.
