From PC Mag: Microsoft is getting closer to releasing its controversial Recall feature.
A preview is now available for compatible Copilot+ PCs with the Windows 11 Insider Build in the Release Preview Channel, which is typically the last phase of Microsoft’s testing.
Recall is intended to help Windows users look back at previous PC sessions. It periodically takes screenshots of your computer activity and stores them on-device to help you find files, websites, or data you previously accessed more easily.
The feature was supposed to roll out with Copilot+ PCs in June 2024 but was delayed several times amid concern that Recall acts more like built-in spyware. Microsoft then added some extra layers of security, like data encryption and making Recall opt-in.
It launched in November for beta testers with Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs and for AMD and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs a month later.
