be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3 Review

At some point during the past few years, I decided I was going to throw away my engineering degree to pursue a career in education instead. I knew one of my biggest weaknesses was going to be classroom management, since I never liked being the person who yells at a group to tell them to be quiet! I had a few chances to work with an after-school program recently, and that weakness of mine became very obvious. If the students were well-behaved, I had no issues, and it was an enjoyable time. However, I had one group with students who were always talking over me when I was trying to explain an activity. I do not know why, I just did not have it in me to yell at the group to be quiet! Luckily, I was not alone, and my more experienced coworkers were there to bail me out. To my surprise, the company was willing to hire me for a summer position where I would have to manage a group of around fifteen students on my own. Combining it with the summer heat, I might experience a mental boom. I may not be the best at getting a group of students to be quiet, but at least I can try to get my computer to be quiet with the help of the be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3. This cooler is part of the Pure Rock lineup of products, which are designed for entry-level computers. Will the air cooler be quiet, or will I have to use it to practice yelling at students? Since it is a cooler, will the performance also be adequate to prevent my CPU from going metal boom in the summer heat? Just keep reading, and the answer will reveal itself.

Alongside the Power Zone 2 750W, our review unit of the be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3 was delivered in a cardboard box from Newegg's warehouse in Ontario, California, USA using the UPS Standard shipping service. The box was in great condition with minimal amounts of damage.

Similar to other be quiet! products, the Pure Rock Pro 3 packaging is very minimalistic. The front is almost entirely black and white, except for the be quiet! logo in the top right corner. An accurate image of the product can be found at the center, with its name printed below it. With only three elements, the front of the package is formed. On the other sides of the package, there are some specifications for the product as well as some information about the manufacturer. I find the simple design on top of a black background to be quite fitting for the manufacturer's name. I would say this packaging has a rather "quiet" design.

Pulling from the manufacturer's website, we have the following specifications:

Upon opening the packaging, I was greeted with the instruction manual and warranty information. Right below those pieces of paper was a plastic bag sitting on top of a Styrofoam base. Inside the bag, there are the parts required for mounting the cooler, and two bags separately labeled "AMD" and "INTEL". Lastly, lifting the Styrofoam base revealed the Pure Rock Pro 3 resting on top of more Styrofoam. The front fan was already clipped onto the heatsink using clips, but the middle fan between the two heatsink towers was held in place using friction and Styrofoam as a barrier on both sides of the fan. It was a very Styrofoam-heavy unboxing, but it did ensure the product arrived in excellent shape.
