From X-bit Labs: LG Electronics, a leading maker of consumer electronics, on Wednesday introduced LG Chromebase, the world’s first all-in-one personal computer based on Google Android operating system. Like all Chrome-based systems, the PC will be powered by low-cost/low-performance hardware and will completely rely on Google’s cloud services. The manufacturer will demonstrate Chromebase at 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
LG Chromebase is an AIO PC with 21” full HD (1920*1080) IPS display. The system is based on an Intel Celeron processor and is equipped with 2GB of DDR3 memory, 16GB solid-state storage, 1.3MP webcam and so on. The all-in-one PC features HDMI-in, USB 2.0*3, USB 3.0*1, Ethernet and so on. The Chromebase runs Google Chrome operating system and fully relies on Google’s applications and cloud services. This AIO computer also sports a pair of built-in 5W speakers.

LG Chromebase is the wave of the future for desktops, expected to be widely adopted not only at home, but especially in schools, hotels, call centers and other business settings,” said Hyoung-sei Park, head of the IT business division at LG Electronics.
Previously Google Chrome operating system was only used for inexpensive notebooks as well as low-end desktops. For the first time, LG decided to install the OS onto an all-in-one PC. The success of the product will be determined mostly by its price. Chromeboxes – ChromeOS-based desktops PCs – have not gained popularity.
