From DailyTech: The first components of Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) Windows Phone 8.1 invasion have arrived courtesy of its Nokia Devices unit. Verizon Communications Inc.'s (VZ) Verizon Wireless is offering up the Lumia 929 "Icon" (a version of the Lumia 930) for $99 USD with a two-year contract. AT&T, Inc. (T) and T-Mobile USA, Inc. (TMUS) have both announced plans to target the budget range with the Lumia 635 (LTE).
According to leaker Evan Nelson Blass (@evleaks), Sprint Corp. (S) will also pick up the Lumia 635 later this year, possibly with updated firmware.
The lowest end model of the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 "Lumia X30" lineup -- the Lumia 530 "Rock" -- is expected for a June or July release and subsequent launch on T-Mobile USA and AT&T prepaid brand Cricket Wireless (which is also expected to get the Lumia 635).
According to @evleaks, Q3 will bring the next substantial update to Windows Phone, dubbed Windows Phone Blue GDR1. According to the leaker's sources, there is a pair of Windows Phone Blue GDR1 carrier-exclusive superphones in development -- "Tesla" for AT&T and "Superman" for Verizon. We had previously heard about "Superman" from a report by The Verge.
