From CNET: Apple is stating that its iTune's Movies and iBooks services have been shut down in China, according to Bloomberg, just seven months since the services started operating in the country.
Apple is reportedly working to restore services as soon as possible, but there is no clear time frame. The closure is said to have occurred last week.
The New York Times is reporting that China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television is behind the closures, citing sources "familiar with the matter".
The Chinese media regulator, along with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology , in February announced new laws regarding online publishing, which came into effect last week.
