From CNET: Supercell, maker of the smash-hit mobile strategy game Clash of Clans, could soon be snapped up by a Chinese internet behemoth, according to new reports.
Web giant Tencent is close to a deal to buy Supercell, which also makes Boom Beach and farming sim Hay Day, according to the New York Times, which cites a "person briefed on the matter".
The deal could see Finnish Supercell valued at over $9 billion, the report says. Japanese company Softbank currently owns over 70 percent of Supercell and it's thought a potential deal with Tencent would see that stake bought out, with Supercell's founders remaining at the company.
Supercell did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Tencent declined to comment.
