From CNET: Pokemon Go could land in Nintendo's home territory of Japan as soon as tomorrow, according to a fresh report concerning the phenomenally popular monster-hoarding mobile game.
The app -- which sees gamers using their smartphones' GPS to collect and battle Pokemon at real-world locations -- is yet to debut in Japan, despite it being the birthplace of Nintendo's popular Pokemon franchise. The wait may soon be over, as TechCrunch, citing anonymous sources, reports that Pokemon Go will arrive in Japan tomorrow (Wednesday). Nintendo and Niantic did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The global rollout of Pokemon Go began with Australia, New Zealand and the US, and has since spread to other countries including the UK -- though its arrival in France has been delayed following last week's terror attack in Nice.
Despite a launch plagued by technical issues and privacy concerns, Pokemon Go -- which is built by software developer Niantic -- has proved immensely popular, with Nintendo's share price enjoying a huge boost. Reuters reports today than Nintendo's market cap has doubled since the game launched, rocketing up to over $42 billion.
