From CNET: T-Mobile on Sunday became the second wireless carrier to suspend sales and exchanges of Galaxy Note 7s amid mounting reports the so-called "safe" replacement phones were experiencing the same fire and explosion issues as the original model.
T-Mobile CEO John Legere announced the move in a tweet Sunday afternoon, citing concern for customers' safety. T-Mobile becomes the second major US wireless carrier to suspend the new phone, following a similar move announced by AT&T Sunday morning.
T-Mobile, which encouraged customers to stop using their devices and power them down, said Note 7 buyers could bring their phones and accessories in for an exchange or refund. The carrier also said that customers could expect a $25 credit on their monthly T-Mobile bill.
T-Mobile's move comes amid a growing chorus to critics calling on Samsung to pull the product from market. Samsung has recalled Galaxy Note 7 devices worldwide after a battery flaw caused dozens of the phones to explode or burst into flames.
Owners were encouraged to exchange their devices for newer ones that were said to correct the battery issue. But Samsung's nightmare has been compounded by reports that the replacement phones are experiencing similar problems.
