Nintendo's 2nd Breath of the Wild DLC Pack Will Launch in 2017

From PC Mag: The popularity of the Nintendo Switch is due in no small part to the fact a new Zelda game was offered as a launch title. It also helped that it was a very good Zelda game offering tens of hours of enjoyment while we waited for more games to launch. But there's more to come.

When Breath of the Wild launched, Nintendo promised two expansion packs entitled The Master Trials and The Champions' Ballad. Anyone who paid for the season pass will get both, and The Master Trials has been available to download and play since June 30. But what about The Champions' Ballad?

As IGN reports, those of you desperate for a fresh Zelda experience to keep you entertained over the holiday period will be getting exactly that. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed The Champions' Ballad will be released before the end of 2017.

We don't have a specific release date yet, but with only nine weeks of 2017 left it's going to be quite soon. I suspect Nintendo is waiting for the Xbox One X$499.00 at Microsoft launch to be out of the way before pushing the button and doing some marketing for the DLC. And it's certainly worth marketing as there's a steadily growing Switch player base Nintendo wants to keep selling the original game to.

As to what's contained in The Champions' Ballad DLC, details are still sketchy. We know it will add a new dungeon, a new story, and some additional challenges to the existing game. The player will still control Link, but the new story is thought to be focused on Zelda.
